Early Work
circa 2012-2020
I like abstracts because they are a reflection of the viewer. abstracts inspire others to create.
My very first painting. I painted this in Alabama at my then boyfriend's house. I hung it in his living room. I don't think he really liked it. When we broke up, I moved to Austin and left this behind.
This piece was painted in Taos, New Mexico. It actually sold the day I finished it. I couldn't believe it.
I painted this in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was dating a biology professor and he really wanted to watch me paint. I tossed on some headphones and tuned him out as I head banged, brush in hand. He was impressed. I broke up with him a few days later.
I fought with this painting for nights on end. I gave up eventually and ended up going on a date with this really cute guy named Steve. He told me about using thick lines. I went home and added thick blue lines to the canvas. It worked. When Nick and I moved in together, I hung this piece in our bedroom and his mother loved it. She didn't know I'd painted it and had no idea I was even an artist.
I painted this in Philadelphia in the Winter of 2021. I was trying to paint my way out a bad situation. I was so scared.
I painted this the day my friend Josh got off of probation out in the backyard of the Airbnb I was crashing at. We baked him a cake and he did his laundry. I had a tendency to use too many colors, so to simplify things my then boyfriend gave me three colors to use. Orange, Blue and Black. He also told me when to stop painting. This was the result.
This painting was done in the early hours of the morning in Mobile, Alabama in 2017. I had been up tie dying all night with my friend Matt. I ended up giving this painting to my friend Jessica for her birthday. It had an awesome texture as I had layered a very gritty white gesso under the colors. If you look closely you can somewhat tell which parts are raised.
